Vera Beato-Smith, Ph.D., brings her international expertise and multilingual language skills to her coaching work with top executives. Vera Beato-Smith, PhD, lives in New York City and divides her professional life between leadership development, executive coaching, and clinical work at a major local inner-city hospital. She has worked as an individual and executive coach, feedback provider, and assessment consultant since 1988. She was trained at the Hartford franchise of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) where she was the Co-Chief Assessor. Since then she has also worked for CCL and several of its branches in the US and abroad.
Vera has coached individuals in organizations such as: the United Nations, Interamerican Development Bank, Prudential International, Unilever Latin America, Colgate/Palmolive, Citigroup, AT&T, Xerox, Pratt Institute in New York, the Board of Education of New York City, and that of Springfield, Massachusetts – to name a few. Individual clients have ranged from the executive to high level management.
Vera is Brazilian, was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, and has lived and worked in New York since 1970. She is married to an American. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, and a B.S. in Psychology and Anthropology from the City University of New York at CCNY. She is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Over the years, Vera’s experience has also involved administration, supervision and teaching, both in academic and clinical settings. Prior to becoming a Psychologist, Vera was a Chancellery Officer in the Brazilian Foreign Service for 10 years, both in Rio de Janeiro and in New York. Vera resides in New York.
