Sue Kennedy is principal of SMKConsulting Group a Leadership Coaching and Organizational Development consulting consortium working with leaders in the development and implementation of a plan for change. She is a member of the Adjunct faculty at the Center for Creative Leadership and serves as a Senior Consultant for Discovery Learning, Inc. in Greensboro NC.
Prior to launching her consulting business, Sue was an executive with American Express
Company in Canada and the USA. As
Vice President and Business Leader for Marketing Services; Vice President of
Credit Operations; and Vice President of Card Operations for Canada, she
accumulated a depth and breadth of experience leading large customer driven
organizations through continuous change.
An experienced coach and
facilitator for team development, leadership development and systemic change
interventions, Sue is a catalyst for learning, committed to the personal and
professional development of her clients. Bringing a creative, big picture
perspective, she helps clients discover unique and ground breaking
possibilities, provides a practical approach to work through the issues and the
structure to steer thought into action.
Sue is certified to use a
variety of individual assessment instruments including the Discovery
Leadership ProfileTM; WorkPlace Big 5TM; Benchmarks®; Skillscope®; the Denison Leadership
Development Survey; the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®; FIRO-B®;and the Change
Style Indicator®; as well as organizational assessments including the Change
Readiness GaugeTM and Denison Organizational Culture Survey. She holds Master level certifications in the use of
advanced simulations such as PressTime®, EdgeWork®, and Paper Planes, Inc®
using these in executive development workshops throughout North America and
Europe. She is certified as an Executive Coach by the Center for Creative
Leadership where she has been affiliated since 1995.
Sue is a big fan of movies and live theatre, always willing to check
out theatre venues wherever she travels. She volunteers at an historic vaudeville
theatre and movie palace built in 1927. She is a travel and wine enthusiast as
well as a devoted dog lover whose hobby is researching rare breeds. She is
currently mom to a LŐwchen a breed originating in Europe, in addition to
providing a home for a rescued Golden Retriever.
A native of Canada, Sue transferred
to Greensboro NC with American Express in 1988 where she resides today. Educated
at the University of Toronto in Physical and Occupational Therapy, her career
took an altered path into business studies and Organizational Relations drawing
her into a successful career in the financial services industry until 1995 when
she formed the SMKConsulting Group.
